Patches from Dove

Hey my lovely followers, I am very very excited to write about today’s post. After knowing about this post’s agenda and theme I totally fell into love with it. Let me share this with you all as well 🙂 I hope you will also like it.

Recently Dove launched a new campaign DOVE® PROVES THAT BEAUTY IS A STATE OF MIND. This campaign was held on April 9th, 2014 at Verde Bistro Cafeto. This Digital PR event was managed by Creative Chaos and the on ground activation by Bulls Eye 360.

Many high-profile celebrities, bloggers and influencers were invited at the event. The campaign was all about a documentary which was globally revealed in 58 countries including Pakistan. This documentary was an interesting experiment and was guided by a psychologist and New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Ann Kearney-Cooke (PhD. Counseling Psychology) who has spent thirty years conducting scientific research around women’s body image and self-esteem.

Dr. Ann Keaney – Cooke invited women as participants of the experiment and asked them to wear a beauty patch for two weeks. The purpose of the patch was to feel more beautiful. After two weeks every women agreed that this band actually increased their self esteem and has changed their personal lives even more than they imagined. But at the end it was revealed that the patch is nothing and just a thought that if you believe in yourself  and yours inner beauty, you will actually feel beautiful.

This was quite surprising and amusing to me. And I personally think that confidence in one self and feeling of being beautiful really is a very important factor of a women’s life.

“When a woman feels beautiful, she radiates happiness and confidence, which inspires her life in a significant way,” said Dr. Kearney-Cooke.  “These women, like so many others, struggle to recognize their own beauty and it severely affects their daily lives.  This first of its kind experiment designed to illustrate that beauty is a state of mind and that the power to feel beautiful comes from within.”

So in all, this experiment proved that self-confidence is the key thing to feel beautiful. An interesting story was shared from a women who participated in this experiment. According to her she always felt ashamed of her arms and always avoided shopping. During her experiment she started feeling more confident and beautiful. She asked her daughter for the shopping and both mother daughter enjoyed this shopping experience and confidentially tried different style dresses.

Dove challenge is to make women feel their best and feel happier no matter whatever turns them down. And in this challenge Dove has a goal of reaching 15 million lives with self-esteem program till end of 2015 but has already reached 12 million.

I absolutely love the idea of this campaign and its exactly all in our mind. Personally I am also a part of those people. I never liked my complexion until I saw Tyra Banks. She is two times dark than me i guess but she is a stunner. A perfect body with perfect Barbie look. So self believe is important and then I started taking care of my skin and started loving my complexion 🙂

I really want you all to watch this inspirational documentary and do share your comment about how you used to think about yourself before watching this video.

  1. When you let society dictate what the criteria for beauty is, this is what happens. People lose confidence and self esteem is destroyed. Every woman is beautiful. Its just beauty that is perceived differently by everyone. So instead of letting others decide whether you are beautiful or not, learn to love yourself as you are and believe in your beauty.
I think men should also be a part of this campaign. Low self esteem, low confidence, insecurities are problems faced by men as well. Society is a harsh and cruel judge and I believe this important message must be shared with all human beings.
